Adding External Waterproofing to New Build House Extension
Premier Contractors were called to a 2-year-old house extension in Bristol to look at a failed waterproofing system.
We found that the original system had not been addressed properly during the build and did not comply with BS8102; a document that outlines best practice in basement waterproofing. It offers advice on different methods of waterproofing available and the correct way to ‘specify’ them for contractors, ensuring a successful and long-lasting installation.
Our CSSW-qualified surveyors specified the installation of Newton 109 LM and Geo Drain water proofing system along with a drainage water outlet specifically designed for the task in hand.
Newton 109-LM is a flexible, single-component, cold-applied, seamless rubber waterproofing membrane for use in external waterproofing of basements.
Newton 410 Geodrain is a two-core drainage sheet consisting of a non-woven geotextile filter layer thermally welded to a water impermeable HDPP (High Density Polypropylene) drainage membrane. Newton 410 Geodrain provides outstanding drainage and protection to the outside face of basement walls and under basement rafts, preventing the build-up of water pressure and protecting the structure from aggressive water, chemicals and toxins.
The site was excavated to facilitate installation of the specified system and the project was completed in timely and tidy fashion to the satisfaction of all parties.
Premier Contractors are proud to be part of Newton Specialist Basement Contractors (NSBCs), an elite group of structural waterproofing and damp proofing contractors who work in partnership with Newton to provide the highest quality products, design and installation in all aspects of domestic and commercial waterproofing and damp proofing.
