Fitting Membranes in a Listed Building
The careful, and costly, conversion of this listed building has already had expert treatment against woodworm by Premier Contractors.
Now, we were called back in to install effective and complementary damp proofing to the walls on this beautiful old structure.
The architect had specified a dry lining system to be fitted to a rear wall with a free-standing metal fast track frame.
Our highly-experienced surveyors recommended that a Newton cavity membrane system be installed to the wall surface.

This system will protect the finished décor from contamination of salts or staining and will afford a degree of improved insulation to the solid walls.
The system will also provide damp pressure equalisation to the wall areas lined, which means the whole of the wall is taking the damp loading, eliminating any weak spot. The cavity created by the membrane also provides ventilation space, allowing the walls to breathe, enabling excess moisture to escape from behind the system.
This type of system is the most sympathetic system that can be applied to the structure, as it will not induce any additional stresses because of increased water pressure.
Premier Contractors are proud to be part of Newton Specialist Basement Contractors (NSBCs), an elite group of structural waterproofing and damp proofing contractors who work in partnership with Newton to provide the highest quality products, design and installation in all aspects of domestic and commercial waterproofing and damp proofing.
