Property Refurbishment St Ives, Cornwall

Prior to the recent events of COVID-19 wreaking havoc on the world, Premier 1st for Property Care had the pleasure of undertaking this extensive property refurbishment in St Ives, Cornwall.

The owners of the property had issues with damp, mould and deterioration to plaster and render beads. As shown in the image below the salt-affected the plaster – absorbing atmospheric moisture, and leaving marks on the wall.

The moisture readings from the walls very high too, as shown in the image below.

All damp plaster finishes within the property were removed prior to extensive waterproof and salt retardant plaster finishes being installed. See the images below of the work being carried by our property care team in St Ives, Cornwall.

Where the client was suffering from extensive mould and damp to an external wall we installed an insulated cavity membrane system.

The membrane system firstly creates damp pressure equalisation, which means the whole of the wall is taking the damp loading, therefore eliminating any weak spot. The cavity created by the membrane can also be used for ventilation space, which allows the walls to breathe, which in turn allows any excess moisture to escape from behind the system.
